After a break for the festive period, The Birthday Suit are BACK!
Newcastle last night was great, as it comes with touring, the road trip was just as eventful as the show itself. Pulling off the A1 to Newcastle into what we believed to be a service station, which turned out to be a caravan park...needless to say that it being February.. it was a ghost town!! Eventually finding a garage nearby, I then discovered "Mead" which apparently is some kind of "medieval" wine. (I still think the guys are winding me up on that one). The show at Legends, Newcastle was great. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and we had some great feedback on the set. All in all, it seems that we have lots to look forward to in the coming few weeks when we are off on the road around the UK.

I am now a proud endorsee of Los Cabos Drumsticks, I use their 8A model as my main choice, as well as their steel and nylon brushes, slapstick and multi-stick models.
I can proudly announce that I have joined the Lion Cajon Drums artist roster!!! Looking forward to working with these guys!!
Should receive my Active Drum early next week!!! www.cajondrums.co.uk So, Dirty Rose rehearsal tonight for the first time in a couple of weeks due to Craig living it up in Vegas!! Got another rehearsal on Thursday night to warm up for the EP launch this Friday in Bathgate!
I've been trying to get my head around keyboard for improvisation class in college but it doesn't really seem to be happening in any amount of a hurry... I really don't think I was made to play keys.. I can work out the theory, and play it.. slowly.. but doing both at the same time I have to admit is a slight weakness, drum music/tab is almost second nature for me to read and play now, but actual musical notation is proving to be a bit distant, Its getting there though! Not at all bad for about four weeks of keys playing I think!! I have got my hands on my dads video camera at the moment, I am going to try and document some of the tour with The Birthday Suit later this month so I am just messing about with it at the moment. I had a bash at recording a drum cover video, and just trying out some conversion software that I need to use for the video files which all seem to work! However I think for a cover video to look as good as they should, a full on acoustic set up looks a lot better than my little practice set up in the garage. So I can't promise an upload of a video in the immediate future but this is in the works!!! I've done quite a lot of work on the website and I'm trying to get into the swing of blogging!
Blink 182 have a new album out .. YAY. They have to be one of my biggest influences, I think the fact that I have their logo tattooed on my arm says a lot. This is one of my favourites from the new album, the drums are crazy and I think this (especially being a live video) proves why Travis is one of my main influences and inspirations. http://bcove.me/3777rpp9 I've really been digging into all this research on moeller technique, I think its really helping me out with speed and dynamics. Through this research I've also discovered that Jojo Mayer has been working on foot technique and really picking the entire method to pieces to find out whats wrong with it, and to really try and develop it. Watching a few of his videos on foot technique has also opened a few more doors with my playing. Had a few days of being busy with things like work and college, along with some downtime in between, really need to get back to practicing every day again. Been on the pad pretty much every night and Ive been looking at a lot of Moeller technique stuff, this is mainly for an essay at college but I figured that I may as well pick a subject that I am interested in and can learn something more productive from!
so I guess if I practice this technique enough you could start calling me Jojo Morrison or Steve Weckl..... Hey guys!!
Just putting some finishing touches to the website. I'm waiting on confirmation that I can use a couple of photos because of copyright reasons so hopefully this all goes well :) Keep an eye out!!! Hey guys!
Been back at college now for about a two weeks, classes are all still getting into the swing of things. Started work on my website a few days ago and its almost finished, just waiting on a few things getting confirmed. Did some listening to different count bassie tracks for improvisation, also played the keys in class. I will really have to practice playing keys so I will hopefully be able to invest in a cheap keyboard to practice. Website is almost done and will be going live soon :)
just have a few more people to contact about photo copyrights which will hopefully go smoothly! Enjoy!! Hey guys, just created my website and will hopefully have it finished soon, check it out and keep in touch!
