About Me

Picture
My name is Steven Morrison, more commonly known as Steve, and I am ultimately passionate about everything that is drumming and all the hard work that I continue to put in to my playing, to further my skills and in turn receive some truly amazing opportunities.

I am 30 years old, originally from Ayr, Scotland and I am based in Edinburgh, which is a great location, being central enables me to get easily from place to place, making the busy schedule of rehearsals and shows a lot easier to manage. Also, I am just a ten minute drive from Edinburgh Airport.

I have been playing now for around 17 years, professionally for around 11 years now and I continue to push myself each and every time I pick up a pair of sticks. I feel at home behind a kit and no matter what style of music I am playing, I get the same buzz every time, whether it is during a rehearsal, or a show. I have the ability to adapt my playing in different situations to suit a range of genres and styles of playing.

Through around 9 years experience playing in wedding/function bands, I have knowledge of an extensive repertoire of songs which I can play without any aid of sheet music or charts. I am able to stand in on short notice for bands and have the ability to play solidly with musicians I may not have had much time to rehearse with. I am also fully mobile with a car and Hi-Spec equipment

I have a lot of experience in recording studios as well as on stage. I can work very quickly and effectively to a deadline and I will always give my best performance when it is needed.

I have as much of a passion for learning as I do for teaching. I have been taught and tutored by some very inspiring people and I would love to think that I could do the same for young aspiring drummers who are as passionate and inspired by their heroes as I am.

As well as drums, I have a great passion for writing and producing my own original material and also engineering/ producing with other projects. I am always up for a challenge and trying something new, there is always something to be learned from any situation!

Last but certainly not least, I am available for work as a drum/guitar/backline technician and have most recently been on the road with scottish band Idlewild on their UK and European tours and festival appearances.

I am a proud endorsee of Los Cabos Drumsticks and Lion Cajon Drums.
