Lo Bird is an Edinburgh based artist pushing his own brand of soul, latin and gospel-infused pop music, a “dark and troubled Bill Withers” (Mitch Ayling – The Milk).
Lo Bird worked with several years as a session musician for the likes of Rod Jones (Idlewild), Snake Davis and Holy Moly & The Crackers, appearing at The Lowry in Manchester and Barrowlands in Glasgow, as well as the Hop Farm festival in 2012. Now he has struck out alone backed by rocksteady rhythm and blaring horns, winning Edinburgh Live & Unsigned and playing packed out shows to astonished crowds that are known for their frantic and sweaty dancing!
An EP is in progress right now working with producer Matt Terry (The Enemy, Ocean Colour Scene, The Wonder Stuff). With vocals that swing from a whisper to a Wilson Pickett roar in a heartbeat, a sound that recalls the Havana clubs, the Delta soul, the Northern grit, and a lyrical depth not often heard, the musical horizons of the future are opening themselves up for Lo Bird.
